In 1895, they live in Thomastown. Wilber is 25 and married to Nancy G, 20, with Myrtle, 4, and Oziah, 2. He is a farmer. Nearby (in the same house?) are his mother and siblings. Paline is 42, Dempsey is 20, Eiva is 17, Wallace is 16, Thomas is 14, Bell is 12, Arthur is 10, Vesta is 8, and Louis is 6. William Thompson, 21, is also living with them. He and Wilber are farmers.379

In 1900, as W C Mahler, 31, lives in Township 138 with his wife Nancy, 25, and children Myrtle, 9, Obias, 7, Cara, 4, and Elnora, 2. They have been married 9 years and have had four children, all surviving. He says his parents were born in Wisconsin. She says her father was born in Indiana and her mother in Ohio. Wilber works as a day laborer, and they rent.387

In 1905, he is 35 and works as a mechanic. He lives with his wife Nancy, 29, and their kids Mertal, 14, Alfred, 12, and Cora, 9.388

In 1910, Wilber and Nancy have been married 20 years had six children, all surviving. He is 40 and she is 34 and their kids are Mirtle, 19, Alfred, 17, Cora, 14, Elnora, 11, Dolie, 8, and Wilber, 2. Wilber says his father was born in New York City, and his mother in Wisconsin. Nancy’s mother was born in Ohio. Wilber is a hotel proprietor on his own account. They rent. His brothers Wesley E, 36, a laborer who does odd jobs, and Wallace L, 30, a laborer who does team work, also live with them. They spent 10 and 15 weeks unemployed in 1909.389

In 1920, Wilber and Nancy live at 5th Street and Minnesota Avenue in Cass. He is 50 and manages the hotel they run and she is 43 and the cook. They own their own home, with a mortgage. Their children Dolly, 17, Wilber, 12, Morris, 8, and Norma, 5, live with them. He says his parents were born in Wisconsin and she says her father was born in Indiana and her mother in Ohio.390

In 1930, Wilber is 60 and a widower. He owns his own house worth $300. He was 21 when he married. His son Morris, 18, lives with him. He says his father was born in New York and his mother in Wisconsin. He drives a truck for a farm.391
