In 1900, he and Laura live in Township 147 with son Harold Lee, 2. Dempsey says he is 25, born June 1874. Laura is 24, born September 1875. Son Harold was born in April 1898. They’ve been married four years and had one child. He’s a farmer and owns his own farm, free and clear.406

In 1905, lived in Northern in Beltrami. He is 30, his wife Laura is 29, and their children are Milton, 4, and Lawrence, 2. Also living with them are Edith, 12, Margaret, 10?, Jacob, 41, John, 41, and Jennie, 34.407

In 1910, as Dempsey W, lives on Mohler Road in Northern. He and Laura are 34 and have been married 13 years. Milton A is 9, Dempsey L is 7, Gertrude C is 5, Mildred E is 3 and Edward P is 1. They’ve had 5 of 6 survive. He says his father was born in Ohio and his mother in Wisconsin, she says her parents were born in Virginia and Ohio. He works as a farmer on his own farm, which he owns free and clear.408

In 1918, living at RFD #1, Bemidji. He’s 43, born June 27, 1875. He’s a laborer, working for W B Stitt of St. Thomas, North Dakota. His nearest relative is Adair Mohler in Bemidji. He’s medium height and build, blue eyes, brown hair.405

In 1920, living in Northern with his children. He owns his own house (mortgaged), is 44 and a widower. He works as a farmer and a ? hauler on is own account. Adair M is 19, Dempsey L is 17, Edith G is 15, Mildred E is 13, Edward P is 11, Eva M is 7, and Glendora? is 4 5/12. Adair labors with his father and ? , and Dempsey labors with his father.409

In 1930, as Dempsey W, he lives in Eckles. He is a widower, owns a radio, and works for someone else as a farm laborer. He is 54, his son Edward P is 20, Eva M is 17, and Theodora is 15.410
