Misc. Notes
His family lived on Strada dell Rovere when he was born. His father was 54 and his mother 35. He was baptized at Sant’Antonio Abate parish.

He was 33 when he married, and Provvidenza was 18. The marriage record says he was born in Messina and lived on Corso Cavour, and Provvidenza lived on Via Pia Casa. The record also says her father’s name was Cristoforo and that he was a stonecutter. His father was dead, as was her mother.

Witnesses his brother-in-law Orazio LaManna’s wedding in 1877. Occupation listed as ramajo (coppersmith).

Witnesses his brother’s Gregorio’s daughter’s birth, April 16 1880. Occupation ramaio.

Letterio traveled with his wife Providenza, daughter Angela, her husband, and their three children aboard the Neustria, arriving on August 7, 1902. The family he said he was going to be staying with in the US were his sons Pasquale and Giovanni, at what appears to be “56 (or 54) Avenue 101st.” Giovanni came over in 1899. There is no Ellis Island record for Pasquale.

Also going to visit Pasquale and Giovanni at that address were cousins Agostino Sicari, Marianna Ventura, and Ignazio Crimi.

Letterio is listed as an illiterate laborer, age 51.

Above him and the Lusitanas are other people going to the same illegible address:
Paolo and Adele Marino, going to see their mother Rosaria A?

He is buried in Calvary with his wife and brother-in-law in a plot paid for by his son Pasquale.31
