Obituary:
LUSITANA, LAWRENCE (LARRY) J. June 23, 1932 to Dec. 24, 2010 Larry spent his childhood in Richfield Park, N.J. until his family moved to San Diego, CA in 1946 where he completed high school at Grossmont High and college at Cal West. He served four years in the U.S.A.F. (1951-54) in the Azores during the
Korean War, working as the base radio announcer and achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. A 23-year veteran of the S.D. Evening Tribune, Larry worked his way up the ranks, beginning as copy boy, then
reporter, slot man, news editor and ultimately Asst. ME; he received several Copley Ring of Truth Awards. He left the ET in 1979 to form Joyce Press, which published several titles by S.D. authors, later returning to journalism at the Sacramento Union. Larry is preceded in death by sister Dolores M., father John S. and mother Marie F., and survived by second wife Sherrill, brother Russell, ex-wife Anne, children John and Dolores, and granddaughter Sofia Marie. He was buried in a private ceremony at George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery in Paramus, NJ on January 8, 2010.
