In 1897, arrived in New York aboard the Hesperia via Naples, arriving October 15. He’s 23 and traveled with Giuseppa Zappala, 28. Their final destination was their parents, Cosimo Zappala at 201 E. 11th? St. He said he’d never been to the US; she said she had been in the US in 1893/1895.
In 1903, he taught guitar and was listed in the city directory at 54 E 101st.
184In 1908, he is listed in the directory as a teacher at 1835 Madison Ave.
185In 1909, arrived in New York on September 18 aboard the Philadelphia, which had sailed from Cherbourg, France. He is 36, married, a musician and non-immigrant alien, and going to see his family at 1835 Madison Ave. He’s 5’7”, fair and blond with grey eyes (” marks in columns from the Swede above him), traveling alone, and has been in the US for 13 years.
In 1910, 36 and living at 1835 Madison Ave with his wife Giuseppa, 41, son John, 12, daughter Theresa, 9, son Cosmo, 8, and his brother- and sister-in-law. Stellario and Giuseppa have been married 13 years and are 3 for 3 on kids. He’s a music teacher in a studio and works on his own account. They both emigrated in 1897, and are still aliens. Paolo is 43 and Concetta is 39. They emigrated in 1893 and 1896 and are still aliens. They all speak English.
163In 1918, living in the Bronx at 598 East 167th St. He is 44 and lists his birthday as J.. 1, 1874. He is white and a d...? alien. He is a self-employed music teacher. His nearest relative is his wife, Josephine. He is medium height with brown eyes and grey hair, no scars.
174In 1920, recorded as Sallario Cambria, 46, living in a home they own at 1554 East 10th Street in Brooklyn with his wife and three children, and brother- and sister-in-law. He and Josephine, 46, are listed as aliens who arrived in 1898. He is a musician; she doesn’t work. Son John, 21, is a stenographer; Theresa, 19, is a typist; and Cosmo, 17, is a bookkeeper. Brother-in-law Paolo is 52 and works as a mechanic at a chandelier (chandolier, sic) company, sister-in-law Concetta is 45 and a dressmaker in a modest (modist, sic) shop. They said they arrived in 1897. They all can read and write.
