In 1900, lived in a rented apartment at 625 48th Street in Manhattan. Peter Rodie, 39, was born February of 1861. Giuseppa, 34, was born March of 1866. They have been married 15 years and have had four children: Antonia, 13, born in Italy in Feb of 1887; Frank, 11, born in New York in Feb? of 1889; Andrew, 10, born in Feb? of 1890; and Jane, 7 months, born in Nov of 1899. Peter, Giuseppa, and Antonia came to America in 1888 and have been here 12 years. Peter works as a porter. Peter and Giuseppa cannot read or write but can speak English; the kids can do all three.
257In 1903, when daughter Maria came to join them, they were living at 305 E 114th St in Manhattan.
In 1910, Peter Rodie rented at 2753 West 15th in Brooklyn with his wife Josephine and five surviving children. He is 49 and she is 44; they have been married 22 years and had nine children. Frank is 20, Andrew is 17, Mary is 12 (born in Italy), Jennie is 10, and Larry is 7. Peter and Josephine arrived in 1888 and are naturalized; Mary arrived in 1903. Peter and Frank are laborers in a piano factory, and Andrew is a butcher.
258In 1920, as Peter Roti, 60, lives at 8120 17th Ave in Brooklyn with his wife Josephine, 52, and children Frank, 29, Andrew, 27, Mary, 21, Jennie, 19, and Stallardi, 16. All the children were born in New York, and Peter and Josephine filed their papers in 1890. He owns his home and works as a piano maker in a factory, as does Frank. Andrew works as a chauffeur for a private family; Mary and Jennie are dressmakers, and Stallardi is in school.
259In 1930, as Peter and Josephine Rodi, they live at 1956 84th in Brooklyn. They own their home, valued at $10,500 and have a radio. Peter is 73 and was 26 when they married. Josephine is 67 and was 20. They arrived in 1887 and are aliens. Peter works as a rubber on pianos(?). Frank, 39, is married and was 30 when he first married; he works as a grainer in a steel cabinet factory. Larry is 25 and is a taxi driver working on his own account. Frank is a WWI vet.
260His death certificate lists his age at 75, putting his birth around 1865. His occupation was as a coarse rubber for pianos, but he retired in January of 1930. He worked in that occupation for 16 years. He had been in the US for 53 years, making his arrival around 1887. His death was reported by his son-in-law M. F. Boesch.
