In 1870, as William Romane (sic), living in Van Etten Township in North Chemung, New York. He is 56 and working as a cooper. Margaret is 45 and keeps house. William, 15, is a cooper’s apprentice, and Minnie and Berdell are both 9. They were all born in New York and the value of their personal estate is $100.333

In 1880, living in Bridge Creek, Augusta, Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He is 63 and Margaret is 60, and he works as a cooper. He and his wife were born in New York, as were their parents. His son, wife, and their families live nearby/in the same house (there is no street address).322
